Asalaamu aliakum
This weekend I went to the baby shower of a friend from high school. We were apart of an advanced studies group (higher than AP) in high school. After high school we weren't as close but always able to catch up with each other. I went to her house warming after she purchased her 1st house in our early twenties. She came to my wedding in our mid twenties. And now her babyshower in our thirties (she came to mine in January but was in DENIAL about the whole pregnancy thing).
She's venturing into the land of 'Motherhood'..lol. It's a land that some wait a while to join. She found a good man, and is making her contribution to the world. She's excited and I'm excited for her. Motherhood has been good to me, alhumdulillah. It has made me more focused I think that NOT being a mother. Pre babies, it was all about ME. What I want? What will make ME happy? When you introduce new lives into the picture those wants/needs change.
Who would ever have pushed Montessori programs in their communities, but mommies? Who would have come up with 'community centers' and 'multi-purpose rooms' but mommies?
A band of mommies is DANGEROUS!! LOL We get the job done, regardless, because we have these little peoples' minds to shape and protect.
To all the mommies/would be mommies out there reading please know that Ummie feels you. Enjoy everyday as Mother's day, Lord knows you need it and deserve it.

as salaamu alaikum and thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment on my blog. i love being a mother as well. it is the most rewarding experience. i aspire to mother much like my mom mothered me, insha Allah. if i am even half as good, my daughter and i will be blessed.
